The Information Technology Unit is responsible for developing and maintaining a reliable communications, data, hardware and software infrastructure for the City Government, as well as providing proper technical support to better enable the City Government meet its service delivery mandate.

This Unit works with external Internet Service Provider to ensure the smooth work of the City Government.

Before Hon. Jefferson Tamba Koijee could take over as the Lord Mayor, the IT Unit had only one staff whose sole responsibilities were surrounding the operational support section of the City Government.

Notwithstanding, this Unit has since been transformed more likely into two separate sections that handle the day to day operations of the City Government. There is currently a Management Information Systems Section that was created to handle the automation of MCC Administrative function.

The Management Information Systems Section is responsible to develop and implement administrative application systems to meet the operation needs of the administration. These responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

Drafting of information Communications Technology Policy for the governing of the City Government Staffs and Users.

Providing system administration and support on ICT infrastructure and operations, including office automation, database administration, directory service, virtual desktop, and IP phone.

Monitoring and Maintain systems and applications that support users related administration activities; and to sustain Revenue portal system and web content management with associated users support.

The Operations Support Section is responsible to provide operational and technical support on ICT services and facilities, including information security control, data center management, computing environment, software administration, and use of IT equipment. This section also provide learning platform and technical support on IT services and facilities, including computer training cente.
